Introduction

Since 1994 I do own a cellular phone. As one talks more about them than using them I have gained some knowledge on this topic by the time and have summarized some infos here.

Please consider that I am living in Germany and most of the information is related to our German cellular system. We have 4 GSM networks right now. Two networks operating mostly at GSM 900 (T-Mobile and Vodafone also expanding at GSM 1800 in city areas) and two networks operating at GSM 1800 (e-plus and o2). Today single band cellular phones are no longer sold.
